• Acquiring competence in the advanced sociological imagination and analyzing social reality having the ability to comprehend social issues accurately.
• To discern their underlining multifactorial causes, to analyze and to propose sociological answers having competence in the ability to analyze profoundly the socio-political conditions of 19th century and the double revolution period in which sociology emerged as a scientific discipline being closely acquainted with the prominent figures of the Classical Sociology with their works and the major sociological thoughts having the advanced competence in the analyzing the leading theorists of the 20th century and their influence in social theory in the progress of the sociology acquiring the critical thinking without being exposed to the contemporary sociological conceptualizing (ex. globalization, multiculturalism, identity, postmodernism) and the one-sided impacts of centers where these concepts are produced.
• Having the ability to evaluate the journey of sociology discipline in Turkey in terms of the prominent thinkers who made significant contributions in the discipline acquiring the qualified method knowledge that can be utilized in responding to practical problems and the effective use of computer programs (ex. SPSS) in this field going beyond the theory/practice divide. 
• Having the skills in using both of the methods in the future works being closely acquainted with the related disciplines of sociology (ex. literature, art, culture, religion, economy etc.) and working with these disciplines to effectively use the sociological imagination having the capacity and flexibility which are needed to jointly use of sociology and other social sciences (history, philosophy, psychology, political science, literature, management etc) in an interdisciplinary approach being equipped with required knowledge and skills that are sought in both public and private sectors.
• Accordingly, having the proficiency in the use of foreign language computer in addition to having the basic knowledge of the sociology discipline.
• To think analytically.
• To obtain a power of reasoning creativly and coherently and an ability to look from different perspectives at the events.
• To be able to use communication Technologies at a basic level.

The evaluation is implemented based on the principles set forth in Article 30 of Gazi University Statute of Instruction and Examination. Grading principles for courses with special evaluation are announced by faculty member(s) to the students and the department in the beginning of the semester. Article 30. 100 is the full point in the assessment of exams. The relative weights of midterm examinations and final examination are submitted to the Registrars Office. Based on grades and associated weights, final points are determined by the course instructor. As featured in the table below, considering the average and statistical distribution of the final points and general class performance, final grades are given. A grade of (E) is given to a student who provides supporting evidence through genuine and valid documentation of illness or other reason which has prevented her/him from completing the necessary course work. E grades are finalized as FF, unless revised until the beginning of the following semester. A student who holds either of the grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) is considered successful in that course. Furthermore, a student with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00 or higher for a semester is also considered successful in a course with a DC grade in that semester. This result is shown as DC+. Grades below DC (i.e. DD, FD and FF) are considered to be unsuccessful. The grades of B, K, and M are not included in the calculation of GPA. Final exam attendance is mandatory for successful completion of a course. The grade M is granted for courses that a transfer student has taken earlier and the courses equivalency with the programme is approved by the Faculty Executive Board upon the request of the department. Grade Point Averages: The students standing is calculated in the form of a GPA and CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average), and announced at the end of each semester by the Registrars Office. The total credit points for a course are obtained by multiplying the grade point of the final grade by the credit hours. In order to obtain the GPA for any given semester, the total credit points earned in that semester are divided by the total credit hours. The CGPA is calculated by taking into account all the courses taken by a student from the first semester to the last semester and the courses recognized as valid by the department in which she/he is registered. The criteria for degree classification are: - Başarılı (Satisfactory) 2.00 - 2.99 - Onur Derecesi (Honours Degree) 3.00 - 3.50 - Yüksek Onur Derecesi (High Honours Degree) 3.51 - 4.00

The graduates of the department can work in University, Prieme Ministry, European Union, DTP, YÖK, TRT, ÖSYM, DİE, TÜİK, Family and Social Policy Ministry, the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, TÜİK (Turkey Statistics Institute), chambers of commerce and industry, local governments, foundations, NGOs and organizations working on a voluntary basis.
