Giresun University Department of Biology PhD program requires students to attend the lectures and to pass the midterm and final exams made by the faculty members. The success grade of a doctorate course is the sum of 40% of the midterm grade average and 60% of the final or final exam grade. This note must be at least CB in order for the student to be considered successful. The student who completes his PhD dissertation is taken to the thesis examination. The doctoral dissertation exam consists of submission of the thesis study followed by the question and answer section. After the completion of the thesis examination, the jury decides acceptance, rejection or correction with absolute majority of the dissertation. A successful student is entitled to a doctoral degree.

Students, who hold a Bachelor's or Master's Degree and fulfill the foreign language requirement, can apply our Doctorate program in fall and spring semesters. The number of students to be admitted to the doctorate program and the qualifications to be searched for candidate students are announced before the beginning of each semester. In this announcement, application conditions and deadline are specified. Candidates applications will be taken into consideration as they have a Masters Degree Diploma, a minimum of 55 points from the ALES exam or at least 55 ALES points in the examinations equivalent to the ALES accpeted by the Universities Board (ÜAK). In admission of students to our doctoral program; A score equal to at least 55 points from foreign language exam (YDS) or a score equivalent to 55 of YDS from a foreign language examination accepted by Council of Universities (ÜAK) are needed.For foreign students, a score of at least 55 points for YDS from one of the English, French and German languages ​​other than the native language, or equivalent point from another foreign language exam accepted by to the Council of Universities is compulsory.

Mainly they may find jobs at universities, private and state hospitals, Ministries (Forestry, Environment, Agriculture, Health), Institutions, Teacher (if holding teaching certificates, TUBITAK, DPT, DSI, private companies related to food, drug, R&D and municipilaties
