Graduates of the Coaching Education Department are qualified to work as coaches, sports specialists, strength and conditioning coaches, and match analysts in both amateur and professional sports clubs. They are also eligible for positions within the provincial and district branches of the General Directorate of Youth and Sports, autonomous sports federations, and in higher education institutions such as Faculties of Sports Sciences, Schools of Sports Sciences and Technology, and Schools of Physical Education and Sports. Additionally, graduates may serve as coaches or assistant coaches in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, and participate in the delivery and organization of sports activities in private fitness centers and the tourism sector.

The department offers an intensive curriculum in the field of sport sciences, designed to train students as competent coaches, specialists, and fitness professionals in their selected sports disciplines. The program includes compulsory and elective courses that cover both professional and general education. To ensure practical experience, students are required to complete a two-semester internship in relevant sports clubs before graduation.

Graduates of the Coaching Education Program will be able to:

-Demonstrate sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge in topics specific to coaching education, including sport, management, recreation, training, and disability sports, and apply this knowledge effectively within their field.

-Identify, define, interpret, formulate, and solve problems related to coaching education by selecting and implementing appropriate analytical and intervention strategies.

-Comprehend, interpret, and analyze a process, event, case, tool, or product, and resolve related issues using a holistic perspective and contemporary methods.

-Develop, select, and effectively use current and functional tools required for field-specific practices in coaching education, including the proficient use of information technologies.

-Design and conduct practical research specific to coaching education, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

-Work effectively in both disciplinary and interdisciplinary teams, as well as demonstrate the ability to work independently.

-Communicate effectively in Turkish, both orally and in writing; demonstrate proficiency in at least one foreign language; write effective reports, comprehend written reports, deliver clear presentations, and give and follow clear instructions.

-Take courses from disciplines related to Sports Sciences beyond the core Coaching Education curriculum.

-Recognize the necessity of lifelong learning, access information efficiently, follow advancements in science and technology, and continuously develop themselves.

-Act in accordance with ethical principles, maintain a sense of professional and ethical responsibility, and be aware of the universal and societal impacts of coaching practices.

-Possess knowledge of workplace practices such as project management, risk management, and change management; demonstrate awareness of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Effectively uses digital tools and technological resources relevant to the field of sports and coaching.

Demonstrates initiative, innovation, and the ability to develop and implement new ideas within the field.

6-Cultural Awareness and Professional Adaptability

Displays sensitivity to cultural diversity and the ability to adapt professionally in diverse and interdisciplinary environments.

7-Career Planning Competence

Understands and applies strategies for setting career goals and navigating professional development opportunities.

8-Effective Communication and Expression Competence

              Communicates ideas clearly and effectively in both oral and written forms, and adapts expression to different audiences and contexts.   

For exams, measurement and evaluation in this program, the provisions of the relevant article of Manisa Celal Bayar University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Training Regulations given below are applied.

Items 27 -

(1) Exams consist of midterm exam, final exam, make-up exam, make-up exam, supplementary exam and additional exam at the end of the maximum period.

(2) Exams can be written, oral, both written and oral or practical.

(3) At least one midterm exam is held for each course. Midterm exam dates are determined and announced by the relevant board of directors within the first month of each semester. Apart from midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities deemed appropriate by the instructor can be done. The number of these activities and their contribution to the success grade are specified by the instructor in the lesson plan. The contribution of final or make-up exams to the success grade is determined to be at least 40% and at most 60%. In distance education programs, the contribution of the final or make-up exam to the success grade is determined as maximum 80%.

(4) A student who does not attend any midterm exam or activity without a justified and valid excuse accepted by the relevant unit board of directors is considered to have received zero (0) grade from that midterm exam or activity.

(5) Students with justified and valid excuses accepted by the board of directors of the relevant unit are given the right to make-up exams for the midterm exams they could not take. The exams taken by the students whose excuses are accepted during the excuse periods are canceled.

(6) Exam results are announced within one week from the date of the exam.

(7) (Change: RG-31/7/2022-31909) Courses for which midterm exams and/or final and make-up exams will not be held due to the characteristics of the course or the education and training applied are decided by the board of directors of the unit upon the proposal of the relevant department board, within two weeks at the latest from the beginning of the relevant semester. The course success grade is given by taking into account the student's work during the semester.

(8) All kinds of exam documents are delivered to the relevant department by the instructor at the end of the relevant semester and kept for five years.

(9) Passing grades of students who fulfill the requirement to take the final exam but do not take the final exam, and students who are successful or conditionally successful as a result of the final exam but will take the make-up exam to raise their grades are calculated based on their make-up grades.

(10) No make-up exam right is given for the final, make-up, excuse, additional exam and additional exam at the end of the maximum period.

(11) (Change: RG-31/7/2022-31909) During the exam or during the examination of the exam paper, a report is prepared about the student who is found to have cheated, cheated, helped to cheat or attempted to cheat, and the exam grade is entered into the system as 0 (zero). The student about whom a report is issued is treated according to the provisions of the Student Discipline Regulation of Higher Education Institutions. The exam grade of the student who is not penalized as a result of the investigation is processed.

(12) ( Appendix:RG-31/7/2022-31909) In cases where it is not possible to make changes in the exam schedule for the courses with overlapping exams on the same day and time, students are given the right to make-up exams for the midterm exams they could not take. Students who want to take advantage of this right must apply to the relevant unit with a petition within five working days at the latest.

(13) (Addition: RG-31/7/2022-31909) Attendance conditions, exam practices, passing conditions and summer school conditions of project/design and similar courses can be determined by the procedures and principles to be regulated by the relevant unit boards.

Success grade evaluations

Items 28 - (1) In undergraduate and associate degree education, a student's success in a course is determined by the relative evaluation method. This evaluation is made by evaluating the student's success in the semester studies and the grade obtained in the final or make-up exam together and taking into account the general success level of the class. Relative evaluation is made by the instructor who teaches the course, taking into account the distribution of grades and the class average. The principles of the relative evaluation system are determined separately by the Senate.

c) During the registration renewal process, the courses that students enroll in are expressed directly with DE grade as the first value. The DE grade is valid for the semester/year until a letter grade is given by the instructor of the course. At this stage, DE grade is not included in the total credit and GPA calculation.

c) Grade E is given to students who have been successful in projects, graduation studies, directed studies and similar studies during the semester due to illness or another valid reason, but cannot complete the necessary conditions for the course. If a student receives a grade of E in any course; this student completes the deficiencies within fifteen days and receives a grade. Otherwise, E grade is converted to FF or K grade ex officio.

d) Grade G is given to students who are successful in courses that are not included in the average.

e) The grade of M is given to students who are exempted from the courses that the students were previously exempted from and did not participate in the average, and students who are exempted from the courses removed from the program by the board of directors of the relevant unit, and students whose disability status and degree have been documented with a medical report and who are accepted by the board of directors of the relevant unit that this disability will pose a problem in the successful execution of the relevant course.

f) K grade is given to students who fail the courses that are not included in the average.

g) DE, E, G, M and K grades are not taken into account in grade point average calculations. DZ grade is given to students who do not fulfill their attendance obligations. DZ is treated like FF grade in grade point average calculation.

ğ) AA, BA, BB, CB, CC, G and M are successful letter grades.

h) DC and DD are conditionally successful letter grades. Students with a GPA of at least 2.00 are also considered successful in the courses in which they receive DC and DD grades. Students who have no failed courses, but whose GPA is below 2.00, must first retake their DC and DD courses and raise their GPA above 2.00 in order to graduate.

ı) FD, FF, DZ and K are failed letter grades.

i) I grade is not included in the grade point average calculation.

MCBU operates TS EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) for documented information and relevant evidence that is a guide for unaccredited programs and contributes to the preparation process for program accreditation. At this point, within the scope of the YOKAK Institutional Accreditation Program, MCBU has established a quality policy that focuses on process-oriented and continuous improvement activities based on the satisfaction of internal and external stakeholders by operating the PDCA process with QMS standard items that are compatible with Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Criteria.

The Coaching Education Program has been accredited by the Sports Sciences Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Board (SPORAK) for 5 (Five) years between 29.04.2025-29.04.2030.

Coaching Education Program accepts students with Central Special Talent Examination (ÖZYES). Starting from the 2025-2026 academic year, the program accepts students within the scope of central placement with YKS.

Students graduating from the program must have a bachelor's degree, ALES, language exam, science exam and sufficient score in the interview for the transition to graduate school. Students graduating from this program can apply to master's, doctorate or proficiency in art programs in fields that accept graduates.
